How Physical Therapy Can Help Those Living with Multiple Sclerosis and Other Neurological Disorders

One million Americans are living with Multiple Sclerosis according to research published in the journal Neurology in March 2019. To raise awareness of the disease, several societies and advocacy groups named March, Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.

MS is a disease of the central nervous system that can cause symptoms throughout the body ranging from difficulty walking to changes in memory and thinking abilities. Our Physical Therapists can help people living with MS maintain their strength, mobility, and flexibility with an innovative physical/occupational therapy program called LSVT-BIG. LSVT-BIG focuses on the production of large amplitude whole body functional movements. It can be used for people with other progressive neurological conditions like stroke, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and Parkinson’s Disease too. Read how it helped our patient, Alice, gain the tools she needs to battle her condition.
