Stephen Thompson, PT, DPT

Clinic Director, Physical Therapist

Stephen joined Phoenix Physical Therapy in 2022 and is originally from Tokyo, Japan.  He studied in the US and received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, Minnesota. He subsequently completed the MossRehab Orthopedic Residency in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and achieved Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Stephen’s clinical practice includes orthopedic and sports medicine and he is skilled in manual therapy, exercise prescription, post-surgical rehabilitation, and injury management. Stephen has a strong interest in practice development, research, and continuing education. He takes pride in practicing patient-centered care and is dedicated to helping patients meet their individual goals. He enjoys meeting and treating patients of all ages and activity levels.

Outside the clinic, Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, trying new and delicious food, and exploring nature in and around Charlottesville.
