Patients who suffer with pain or lack of motion may be having fascial problems that go undiagnosed. These individuals need to know about Myofasical Release Therapy.

What is Fascia and Why is it Important?

Fascia is a tough connective tissue surrounding every cell from head to toe like a three-dimensional spider web.  It provides support and flexibility to all structures of the body.  The fascia is manipulated, directly or indirectly, which allows the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion.  Releasing restrictions in the fascia can be the missing link in resolving problematic cases of pain and dysfunction.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release is a hands-on approach used to loosen fascial restrictions throughout the body.  The therapist releases the tight fascia by applying sustained pressure into the fascial barrier or area of restriction, allowing permanent elongation of the tissues.

What are the benefits of Myofascial Release and Myofascial Massage?

As fascial layers are released, the patient gains greater flexibility.  This results in decreased pain, enhanced daily functional abilities, refined athletic performance, increased ease of movement and improved structural balance and integrity.

The following is a partial list of conditions for which treatment with Myofascial Release techniques is safe and effective:

  • Back Strain
  • Whiplash
  • Carpal Tunnel Symptoms
  • Chronic Cervical Strain
  • Dizziness
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headache
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Post-Polio Symptoms
  • Scars and Scar Tissue
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • TMJ Dysfunction
